Simplicity

A big word used to describe what should be straightforward term. But simplicity can mean something different to each and every person.

Simplicity for me is a way of life.

It is a cup of hot coffee on a Sunday morning while lying in bed, snuggled under the covers. It is a closet full of various shades of black, gray, blue, brown, and white. It is pizza on any given night of the week. It is long walks, filled with great conversation or spent alone in thought. It is one throw pillow instead of seven. It is putting on socks that don't match, because they were the first two socks available. It is a cup full of water, straight from the tap is fine. It is a smile on your face at the end of the day.

When I stop to think about the things that I am describing, I realize that I have described happiness for me. I have taken my happy thoughts and applied them to the idea of simplicity.

So maybe it's just that, maybe simplicity is happiness.

I have spent countless hours tiring to figure out how to simplify my life. But I learned that the secret to a simple life, is to live a happy life. When you are happy, you don't need to be extravagant. Extravagance is for other people. It is a show. People tend to hide their true feelings with extravagance because it draws the attention away from them. When you learn to be happy, you learn to live simply.

"Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated." -- Confucius

Simplify and be happy! Have a great weekend,
