The Merry-Go Round

When I think of summertime, I think of the beach and long nights and the boardwalk.  When I think of the boardwalk, I think of friends and late nights and merry-go rounds.

Let's think about merry-go rounds.  They go 'round and 'round, up and down.  They have different horses, shiny lights, mirrors, and music.

There are pretty horses and not so pretty horses.  There are old ones, new ones, shiny ones, dirty ones, dull ones, bright ones.  And everyone wants to have the newest, prettiest horse.  But sometimes you don't get that one.  And you have to be okay with that; you still get to enjoy the ride.

Once it starts, there are many times you will be up and many times you will be down.  And every time you go down, you know that you'll rise up again.

Sometimes it makes you dizzy and disoriented, but you know that you'll get your bearings and it will be okay.

The ride is a journey, not a destination.  It doesn't matter if you are in front or in back--in fact, how do we even know who is in the front and who is in the back?

Sometimes you get nervous that the ride is going to end.  And it will, but you have to live in the moment and enjoy the ride while it lasts.

Merry-go rounds can teach us about life.
In life, you deal with what is thrown at you--whether it is new and shiny or old and dull.  You learn to make the best of the situation.  Life has it's ups and it has it's downs.  Even when you are down, you have to remember that things will get better.  Life is funny that way, but it keeps moving.  Life can throw you a curve ball every once in a while.  All you can do is readjust how you look at the situation and swing again.
Life is a journey, it keeps moving forward and keeps changing on us.  But it keeps going.
